Rivers of Babylon

(Psalm 137) Written in a dry time, as our friend Jan Garven walked through trials and chose to proclaim the faithfulness and goodness of God.

Lead vocals: Deb Dorman, Faye Smith. Background vocals: Jack Dorman, Jeff Dorman, Rose Watson

_______________________________________________________________

By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept –
When we remembered Zion
Upon the willows here we’ve hung our harps

How can we sing the songs of Zion?
How can we sing the songs of Zion?

How can we sing the songs of the Lord
In a foreign land how can we sing for joy
If I forget you, oh Jerusalem

(2nd chorus: Your love and faithfulness)

May my lips forget how to sing,
May My hands forget how to play this instrument

I will sing the songs of the Lord.
In a foreign land yet I will sing for joy
I will proclaim your love and faithfulness –
For You are good, Your word is true
And I will put my hope in You and sing! (the songs of the Lord)

You are faithful, you are faithful, Lord
Your love endures forever,
Your love endures forevermore

  1. This is maybe the first lament Deb has written. It is also great to have Mike and Faye Smith play and sing on this song. Great friends, amazing musicians.
